2003-05-08 - 7:52 a.m. first birthing class It wasn't as bad as I thought. The birthing class, that is. The pediatrician interview was a piece of cake. It was a hectic evening, but only because of traffic and weather. Amanda and I both headed straight for home after work, then immediately left for the pediatrician's office. There are two doctors in the office. Both are nice, both females. I really have no preference one way or the other as far as the gender of my doctor. Sometimes my (male) PCP is too busy to see me on a particular day and a female will see me. It doesn't matter, really. But I'm surprised at some of the reactions I get when I say that. Then we were off to the hospital for the class. Despite tornado warnings and watches, rain, and incredibly heavy traffic, we arrived on time. There are 8 eight couples in the class, small enough to have that "intimate" quality, but large enough for me to remain as anonymous as I wanted to be. We all introduced ourselves (dads included) and told things like where we work, the due date, our fears, etc. There was a woman there who works for my company and I was excited to have something in common with someone, something I could say and talk about. When it came my turn, the instructor completely skipped that question! I was the only one who didn't get to tell where I work. Oh well, it'll be something I can bring up next week. It was a nice class; full of information and the instructor is great - she's been a nurse for a long time, and was head of a labor and delivery unit for 16 years. She knows her stuff. So, the agenda for today includes: completely reworking the project I just finished because of some inaccurate data and flawed results. The other thing I must do is go to target for some deodorant - I walked out of the house this morning without any on.... I stink!
