So far this week I've felt like complete shit. Not health wise, just mentally. I am completely unmotivated at work. The phone rings, I don't answer. I get email and don't respond. No one seems to have noticed.
Today was different though. I guess it was a light day because they had the funeral for the rep who died Sunday night. It was held about two hours away. I guess even salespeople think it's tacky to use a cell phone while at a funeral. I'm not too tacky to just be thankful to have had a light call day. One customer I talked with today apologized for keeping me on the phone so long (we were on for over an hour). I told him that it was OK and that it was my job to talk with him until his problems were resolved and his questions answered. I actually thought that sounded like a nice, friendly thing to say.
His response? "Oh, you've got an easy job, huh?"
Fuck him.
I found a super secret shortcut on my way home today. It saves me about five minutes. I'll take what I can get. I'm not sure if it's shorter in miles, I'll have to check that out tomorrow.
I also started being all proactive at work. Anticipating problems or needs and addressing them before they go too far.
That's got to stop.
I also learned that getting to work an hour early doesn't save time later in the day or really allow me to get a jumpstart on the day. It's just a gamble, no matter which way you look at it. Actually - I went to work early to fix my laptop. It decided it didn't want to work so much and crapped out yesterday. Everything, gone. I did manage to use my mad skills to salvage my lotus notes files, and most of my documents. So at least I haven't lost much. But hey - if I'm not responding to email, what the hell does it matter?
Tonight's event - we've got friends coming over to eat pasta. Homemade pasta. Amanda and I made it. All I've got to say - I hope it turns out significantly better than the homemade pierogies. They're currently in the trash.
