2003-03-25 - 6:52 p.m. and so it begins Second day at the new job is done, and now the real stuff begins. I have managed to stay awake through two days of orientation (payroll, benefits, etc) and now begins the actual job. I returned to my office today after finishing up with orientation to find out that I have already been scheduled for training in Kansas City, I have a lunch meeting tomorrow and I am to sit in on a meeting with the director of our department this Friday. They didn't waste any time. Orientation wasn't as bad as some that I have been through for other jobs. Or, as in the case of my most recent position, I didn't have any orientation at all. I'd prefer to have a boring couple of days rather than just be thrown in and expected to swim. Speaking of personality traits, we took a Forte assessment today. It's similar to the Myers-Briggs "type indicator", you know "INTP" stuff, only it's geared more toward the business side of things. The Forte institute uses much different terminology however. For example, it says that I am "dominant". I am also: an extrovert impatientnon-conformistI would agree with most of it... in general. I tend to believe that I am not dominant and certainly not extroverted. And while I would really love to argue the result of "impatient", I must admit it's very accurate there.Meanwhile - the only true complaint I have about this two day orientation is that I managed to sit next to Captain DragonBreath who insisted on heavily sighing numerous times... in my general direction.
